Wound care dressing pack
A wound care dressing pack contains all that you need to clean a surgical wound(s) after removing a postoperative dressing:

Instructions For Use:
- First, wash your hands thoroughly using soap and water.
- Open the packet and remove the dressing pack.
- Open the pack on a clean flat surface.
- Pour cool boiled water from a kettle into the plastic gallipot.
- Gently remove the postoperative dressing and wash your hands again.
- Take a gauze swab, soak this in the cool boiled water and squeeze the excess water away.
- Clean the eyelid or facial wound by gently drawing the moistened gauze swab along the eyelid from the inside corner of the eye to the outside corner, or along the entire wound.
- Discard the gauze swab into the yellow plastic rubbish bag and repeat the process, gently removing any dried blood or ointment from the wound.
- Take a dry gauze swab and gently dry the wound and discard the swab.
- If there are insufficient gauze swabs, open a packet of sterile cotton wool balls and use these.
- Squeeze a small amount of ointment onto a clean finger and gently smear this along the wound.
The wounds should be cleaned 3 times a day as described above until you are reviewed in clinic and the stitches have been removed).
